Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Scalp Micropigmentation.

How Much Does the Treatment Cost?

There’s no single answer to this question because we treat all of our patients as individuals. Therefore, the price of the treatment will depend on your situation, which includes the stage of your hair loss and the style you’re looking to achieve.

The price is calculated based on the number of sessions needed and the complexity of the work we need to complete in order to achieve the outcomes you have in mind.

No matter what, you’ll relieve a free consultation when you first come to us; this includes a no obligation quote for the treatments.

How Long Will the Treatment Take?

Our procedures strive to create the most natural and authentic outcomes for your hair. As a result, the procedure involves three different treatment visits after the initial free consultation.

The first sessions usually takes place 24 hours after your consultation and this session takes 3 to 4 hours. A week later, the second session takes place and this takes 3 to 4 hours in which the hairline is refined and the colour improved. The final session takes place 2 to 4 weeks later and takes 1 to 3 hours of perfecting the shade and hairline.

How Qualified Are the Practitioners?

Our practitioners are among the most highly qualified in the world today. They both possess diplomas for micropigmentation and permanent cosmetics. They also have Level 4 qualifications in scalp procedures, which is the highest level of this kind of qualification available in the world. All relevant insurance and cover is in place too. When you choose our services, you’ll be in safe hands. Your treatment will be carried out by professional and experienced individuals.

What Are Your Standards of Hygiene?

Health, safety and hygiene are of paramount importance to us. When you receive one of our treatments, you can have complete confidence in the process. We comply with all relevant hygiene and health and safety standards. All apparatus is sterilised ahead of use, practitioners always wear gloves and we use single-use needles.

How Will the Treatment Change My Appearance?

The treatment will yield immediate results for your hairline and your overall appearance. Post-treatment, there will be some redness that’ll need to be given time to reduce. But after a few days, that will be gone and the pigment will have chance to soften. After that, the appearance will be complete. Treatments usually involve three visits and you’ll notice improvements after each.

How Long Will the Scalp Micropigmentation Procedure Last?

This is a question that many people have when they first come to us. The simple answer is that, providing you care for it and maintain it post-treatment, the results will last for a lifetime.

Of course, top-ups every 3 to 6 years are certain recommended and many patients find them beneficial. One thing that can damage your SMP is sunburn, which is why we always recommend using sunscreen regularly. SMP can even help to mask scarring created by past procedures such as hair transplants.

Do You Offer a Guarantee?

We’re proud to offer a long guarantee of 24 months starting from the date of your final treatment. We were among the very first treatment centres in the world to offer such a long guarantee and the full details of it will be provided to you when you book with us.

How Will You Create an Appropriate Hairline for Me?

One of the most important things we do ahead of carrying out the SMP treatment is consulting with you. Our extensive consultations allow us to understand your specific needs and wants as we set about the work of creating the best possible hairline for you. We’ll use a wax pencil to demonstrate the position of the hairline and how it’ll look post-treatment.

The preferences of our patients are, of course, always taken into account. We’ll listen to your feedback throughout the process and respond and tweak things accordingly. There are many styles we can create, from a soft hairline to one that’s very firmly defined. We can even create a mature and slightly receding effect if that’s the style you’re aiming for. We’ll start with a soft line and make changes from there to achieve the hairline that’s perfect for you.

Will Fading Occur?

Initially, there may be some fading as your natural shade is achieved but this is what’s meant to happen. After that, there’s no reason why you should experience any significant fading as long as you follow our aftercare guidelines and use sunscreen consistently. If you do all that the appearance we create will be maintained.

Is the Procedure Painful?

No, the procedure is minimally invasive and only causes slight discomfort. You won’t have to worry about any significant pain.

Are There Any Age Restrictions?

Our SMP treatment is suitable for all ages. We treat patients over the age of 60, as well as sufferers of alopecia as young as 14, as long as their parents have provided full permission for the treatment:

What Kind of Aftercare Do You offer?

We offer a complete set of guidelines for your post-treatment recovery, but in truth, it’s all very straightforward. Exercise that causes you to sweat should be avoided for around a week after the treatment. And you should wait for around 4 days before washing or shaving the scalp. For around a month after the treatment, high-specification sunscreen and chlorinated swimming pools should also be avoided.

How Often Should I Shave?

This is something that comes down to personal taste. Your hair growth rate will be specific to you, so you’ll need to consider how often you should shave it. For many people, shaving every 1-2 days works best, but you’ll quickly find the routine that works best for you and your style.

What If I Go Grey?

We use shade carefully to create a colour that’s made up of many different shades, which is how your hair is naturally made up. This ensures a realistic appearance and one that will soften with time to match the natural ageing process your hair goes through.

Will I Experience Future Hair Loss?

One of the best things about the procedure we offer is that it can be blended into your remaining hair in such a way that minimises the noticeability of future hair loss. The treatment can be revisited to top up your hair to create a fuller look in the future too.

What If I Want to Change My Look in the Future?

It’s actually very easy to soften a hairline using laser treatment procedures if that’s something you want to do in the future. It can also be receded as you age if you want to maintain a more natural and authentic appearance. We’re yet to treatment anyone who has gone on to want a full reversal, but such a procedure would be similar to having a tattoo removed.

What Kind of Pigment Do You Use?

We believe in using ethical pigment and that’s why the pigment used for all the procedures we carry out is organic, natural and plant-based. It’s completely vegan-friendly too. To our knowledge, it’s the most ethical and ethically-sources pigment used in the UK today.

Because it’s natural, it also aids the healing process and helps improve recovery times.
